Hello, I'm looking for suggestions for speakers to pair with a JCM800 in a closed back 2x12 cab. The amp is a homegrown 2204 style, but modified in the typical Tone Lizard fashion for a little more gain and warmth. I currently play it through a 2x12 Mesa cab with black shadows, and it sounds pretty good, actually, but I'm going to be selling my Mesa and the cab  is going with it.

I have a jcm800 combo with a G12-65, and it's a good sounding speaker, and matches the JCM well, but in the open back 1x12, isn't heavy enough and lacks lows. The mids are great on it though and it very generally has the curve I'm looking for, just with  a lot more punch. I'm open to mixing speakers as well.

Any suggestions?

Hummm .... almost anything in the closed 2x12 will give you "a lot more punch" than the single 12 combo!

Search the forum ... but it sound like maybe my favorite closed-back 2x12 combination of a Retro 30 and an ET90 should be perfect for you!

I have an Orange Rocker 30, which has some JCM800-like qualities, and I'm using a Stone Age 2x12 with an ET65 and a Mojotone BV30H.  This combination sounds great.  I used to have two Vintage 30s in the cab, and my new speaker combination is much better -- to my ears at least!
