I recently had the good fortune of picking up this amp, which looks like it never left the house. Only mod is the Torres mid switch, which sounds great. While the original speakers don't sound bad, I know it could sound better (if all I was looking for was SRV strat tones, it'd be fine). I know the traditional choice would be the G12C's, but not afraid to try the non-traditional. I play blues & classic rock, sometimes a little country. I try to give equal time to my teles, strats, & 535. I'm looking for an open sound, but to hang on to some of the traditional Fender sound. I get my distortion from a Fulltone Fulldrive, & like overdrive, but not a super 'gainy' sound, but play a lot of clean solos too. I was thinking of a mix with an ET-65 for a full sound, but reading thru forum, the G12s seem to have a lot of love for full sound also. Any advice would be appreciated.........Don

Personally ... I'd find a pair of G12C's too bright ... here are some ideas (all balanced with warmth AND Fender Chime):

1 G12C & one (much warmer) G12C/S

2 G12 C/S

1 Et65 & 1 G12C

1 ET65 & 1 Retro 30 (always a fav)
