Hi

Just had my blues Jr modded (basic mod + presence) and add a set of two matched JJ EL 84, witch make the amp sound very nice. A set of two Tung-Sol ECC83/12AX7A and one ECC83/5751/PHILIPS JAN will complete the valves upgrade. The final step would be the speaker. Reading a lot of reviews I start to be a little bit confused about the choice. Am looking for a nice american clear blues tone and a vintage blues crunch. Sick about pedals who don't give me the tone, I really want to use the amp to get it (If I could just play with the volume knob). Is Muddy Water had pedals ? Buddy Guy doesn't use any pedals at all (just a Wha) and so many bluesmen as well. What will be your advice on a new speaker to go towards this kind of tone.

Thanks for helping.

Teza.

I have a made in USA Blues Jr. with the Frommel mods installed. Would you still suggest the ET65 for blues and classic rock?

Yes, absolutely!

The Blues Junior sounded awesome at the guitar store. Not so much at home, way too brite, not very impressive at low volumes. The ET-65 has made this amp sound awesome again!

Thanks for your input John ... yep ... you can do every "mod" on the internet, but it won't come close to the improvement a simple swap to the appropriate speaker will make!
