I am wanting to respeaker both of my 4x12 cabs. One is an Ampeg VL cab and the other is a Peavey Valve King. I play through a Carvin V3 100 Watt or an Ampeg VL1001 100Watt head. I was looking too either go with the 50Watt Reapers and Retro 30 or the Hm75 and the Retro 30. What would be the better combo for playing Trash? Also which is the better layout, X pattern or 2x2? Ant info would help a bunch Thanx.

Of the two combos you mentioned, I like the HM75/Ret 30 the best. Never tried it, but should be spot-on for thrash metal.
The Ret 30?Reaper HP combo would be warmer, with more midrange.
Go x-pattern ... as long as you can remember what's where come micing time...
