Hi. I have a mid-70s Silverface Princeton Reverb that needs a new speaker. I was trying to decide between a Jensen C10R or C10Q when I saw a recommendation on Fenderguru.com for a Warehouse Veteran 10". I did some searching, and found that WGS is really highly thought-of--Glad I found you! I'd much rather order a made in the US speaker. Before I order a 10" Veteran, I thought I'd check with you and see if that's the speaker you'd recommend. I definitely want to keep the awesome Fender sparkle with my Strat, but I'm not opposed to some nice breakout when I get to play louder (altough I typically don't turn it up higher than 4 or so). Is a Veteran the right speaker for me? Thanks,
Bob
The Vet 10 will sound pretty close to the stock speaker that came in your Princeton ... and will be about the same volume as well ... so if that's what you want, go for it! It'll sound much better than the current production Jensen's.
The other option would be a G10 (C or A) ... which would be a lot louder, and have a bunch more big, solid bottom end.
Since your into "sparkle", I wouldn't recommend the smooth-cone 10.
Awesome. Thanks!
for the PR, but not needing lots of sparkle, is the G10C/S a good choice? I'd like a traditional vintage blues/rock tone but with solid lows (no mud) and a higher SPL.
Hi Ralph,
Just now saw this!
Only if you want the amp VERY dark. If you want it darker, but not totally ... the ET10 or Green Bert 10 would be good choices that would also add the volume and solid lows you are looking for.
