I'm looking at combining a Retro 30 with a British Lead in a 2x12 homebuilt cab connected to a RG75 amp.  The Retro 30 because I want to brighten up my tone a bit since I find the RG75 to be very dark and the British Lead because I believe I read on this forum that it's a good speaker for drop-tuning.

In other places, I've read that you want to match the SPL ratings of your speakers as closely as possible or one speaker will overpower the other.  The Retro is 100db and the British Lead is 98db.  Is this too much of a difference?  Am I just going to hear the Retro predominately and make my 2x12 essentially a 1x12?  If so, am I better off just getting two Retro 30s?  Thanks for any help you can give.

No worries ... they will play well together!  And your reasoning is dead-on.

Thanks, Vaughn!  I appreciate the confirmation that I'm heading in the right direction!
