I got an old Peavey Encore 65. The previous owner had installed a Jensen Mod speaker. Not only was it harsh and overly bright, I do not think it was able to handle the wattage. After days of researching, I decided on the ET-90. WGS is one of the few manufacturers who offer a 4 ohm version which pretty much sealed the deal. The speaker is warm, smooth and very even toned across the low, mids and highs. It has an almost restrained "bite" to it which I really like. I have a Vox Night Train Cabinet with a Greenback. This speaker is very similar in tone, but smoother and warmer. Thanks Vaughn for the shoot out video!
Awesome! Strange, we've had 2 posts on those old Encore 65's in the last coupple weeks ... sounds like the ET65 & ET90 bot work well in those amps ... just as I suspected! Thanks for taking the time to report your findings here!
You say "this speaker" is smoother and warmer....which speaker are you talking about? The greenback is smoother or the ET?
Sorry...the new ET-90 compared to teh Jensen MOD which was in the amp when I bought it. It is very reminiscent of a Greenback or Creamback and Vaughn pretty much confirmed with a recent post.
