so what would you guys recommend for a carvin nomad?  i have one that i have been struggling with.

the stock speaker blows; its supposed to be like a vintage 30 but is boxy and dull. looking for somthing rounder and fuller. with a controlled midrange.

thanks!

This will be a tough one for me because I've never played that amp and you made a somewhat confusing statement

"is boxy and dull. looking for somthing rounder and fuller. with a controlled midrange."

Boxy and dull ... okay that's easy to fix: Retro 30!

Want something rounder and fuller ... okay, again easy: Reaper HP

Controlled midrange .... that's an ET65.

Soooo .... what to suggest ... well, given what others have to say about the Nomad, I would choose the Reaper HP.

Thank you Vaughn,

i wound up going with and ET65 (my first choice) and i have to say that so far its a winner!

My first WGS and wont be my last.  I have a carvin verticle 2-12 that will be getting the ever so famous ET-65/Vet30 combo i think.  any preference as to who should gp on top?

thanks Again,

Tony

No ... thank YOU for taking the time to come back and post your results!  And yea, the ET65 is NEVER a bad choice in a 1x12 Combo!

Thanks for the comments :) I also have a Carvin Nomad. It's a great 50W amp with 4 12AX&'s and 4 EL84's. I am looking to refine the tone and am considering the newer ET 90. I play blues and some old classic rock..... many thanks. Byron

Thank you - I have a Carvin Nomad as well - great 50W 1x12 combo amp that is built like a tank. 4 el84's with 4 12 ax7's. looking at a WGS ET90

Sure Byron ... the sound will be similar to the ET65 we've seen praised here ... with a little tighter bottom and not quite as sweet a top ... oh, and it'll be just a tiny bit louder and a couple pounds heavier than if you go with the ET65.
All in all ... I'd stick with the ET65 over the 90.
