cone cry

I just received a WGS G12C/S (smooth cone).
Tone is great(!), but, I am getting a lot of cone cry (notes above 13th fret on the 1st (E) and 2nd (B) strings.
The mounting bolts were hand tightened, then, 1/4 extra turn of the screwdriver (so, they are not overtightened or anything)
40W blackface type amplifier
Strat with moderate output single coil pickups.
Moderate overdrive (tube screamer, all controls at noon).
Will the cone cry go away with time, or is it just part of how the speaker is?
cone cry and WGS? Never! (well, maybe with a speaker that's greatly over powered ...) Talk to Daniel or Wayne & get that gal exchanged for one that rocks your socks off!
Just please double check to make sure it's the speaker ... not something else ... :-)
Hello,
same problem with a G12Q in my 5E3 !
I'm very sad 'cause this speaker is great, perfect tone for a tweed deluxe, and moderate price.
I too recently got this same speaker (G12C/S) for a 71 SFDR. Sounds great BUT in the same position mentioned here (G or A at 15th or 17th fret first string) bad cone cry! I was very cognizant of not over tightening the mounting nuts. I' ve replaced speakers before. Love the speaker but not sure I can live with this.
