For some reason I am unable to reply to a post that I posted earlier.  So I'm just going to enter a new thread (or attempt to).  My original post was about the ice picking of the C30.  The responses were to go with the ET65.  I ordered a used C30 from GC, but when it came in, the 1/4" input jack had some issues.  So they had to find another one and just got it this past Sunday.  All I know about speakers is that I do not like the way the Blue Marvel sounds.  As I said in my first post, my son has a new Delta Blues, and it sounds wonderful!  Not sure what speaker is in it (not the BM).

The GC dealer recommended a Swamp Thang or Cannibus Rex.  I can't afford buying 4 speakers and trying them out and unfortuantely, live in a rural town where there aren't any music stores (GC is about 2 hours away).

I know this is a WHS forum, but what differences am I looking at between the Swamp, CRex, and ET65?  I'm placing my decision in your hands!  You all seem to have much more knowledge on this subject than I'll ever know.

Again....I play mostly classic rock, Gilmore, ZZTop, GNR  Not much clean stuff.

Hey Robbie,

i've just been through the exact process you're asking about, with the exception of it being on a 6L6 DRRI.  I had a Crex in it, and liked it a lot.  Took a long break in, but ended up be very warm, smooth, and killed all of the ice pick in the DRRI.  After a very short period, the Crex died (it's at Eminence being reviewed for warranty now).  In the interim I ordered an ET 65, and have just gotten it past the initial break in.  I like it much better than the Crex.  It's more balanced overall, has a tighter bottom end, and has more clarity without adding any nastiness. It is overall more "present," and feels more forward and responsive.  I was playing it with one of my Strats before work this morning, and just couldn't believe the improvement.

The price is really good for the quality level.  Just ordered a Retro to pair with it in an extension cab.  I'm certain you will like it.

best regards,

Chris
