Hello,

I own a Reeves Custom 10HG amp, a 10W single ended 1xEL34/2x12ax7 that is like a Marshall (JCM800-ish)

For now, I pair it with a closed-back Orange PPC112 cab (1x12), loaded with a Celestion V30.

I find this speaker a little too aggressive on the upper-mids and highs.

I am looking for a speaker with better low-ends (more pronounced, "firmer"), a fair amount of mids (better balanced mids), and not ice-picky in the high ends.

What would be your suggestion ? looking for something not too "modern".

Thanks !

The web page lists a V-Type in the 1x12" cab. The Vet 30 should be closest to that -- high end similar to a V30 with a nice mid growl, but less ~3kHz spikey. The bass may not be as firm as you want, but those sealed Orange cabs are pretty solid, so it might be just right. A Reaper HP should be a bit softer in the high end with deeper and tighter bass. The Invader 50 is also less spikey than the V30 if you want a Creamback type sound. My impression of the high end is more "ratty" than the Reaper HP. Not quite as bright, but good chime. .JCM800's originally shipped with Celest G12-65 cabs, so go for an ET65 if you want an even smoother high end. Again, the Orange cab should tighten the response of those two M-size magnet speakers compared to a Marshall cab.

Thanks !

I'll look at these option (Reaper/Invader 50/ET65).
