Hi guys,

I have an old silverface Deluxe Reverb which has the original Oxford speaker and after some tests I'm still looking for the "best" speaker for it.. I have made some littles mods to get a nice a breakup tone sooner in order to take perfectly my TS or my fuzzface and get a srv/sayce kind of tone with my strat. It works not soo bad but I'm not totally satisfied. The oxford doesn't have enough bottom end and it's way too loose. The sound starts to get farty when I push harder the amp. I would like to find a spaker with nice tight low end and with "sparkle" highs. My last model was an Eminence Red White & Blues and the highs were too smooth with too much bass for my taste. So I'm looking for some advices to get the perfect speaker.. ;)

Thanks,

Mat

Hey Mat!

Long story short, i was sitting in the same boat!
The best speakers for a Deluxe Reverb in my humble opinion would be a G12C or ET-65 and i played em both..
there are others but those stay true to the Tone of the Amp.

BUT if you are after SRV/Sayce tone like me NOTHING beats the WGS12L.
I have it in my Deluxe Reverb for 2 years now. it sounds like the old EV12's that Stevie used and Sayce does.
The new original EV's sound lil different(for the worse in my opinion).
Its a heavy speaker and the price to but its the absolute best you can get if you really want that phat tone, big tight bottom end super nice warm sparkle.
Clean tone heaven and unbelivable definition with dirt/ts808 so on...

just my 2 cents, PEACE :)

Oh i forgott, thats regarding the SRV/Sayce tone.
If you just want a speaker upgrade thats got nice tight low end and sparkle highs the G12C is your best bet, its an awesome speaker!

Yes ... the WGS12L is the only one that will nail it ... if you don't want to add that much weight and volume to the amp, an ET65 would come in in second place.
