I have a clean ’68 Champ that I use for recording and small group jams. It’s loaded with a Jupiter 8SC. I also play it through 1x10 cabinet that has always carried a 10” Weber Legacy. My guitars are all single coil (Tele and P90) and I occasionally use an OCD or a fuzz.

The Legacy has been a fine speaker but it’s in the Marshall camp and I’d like the Champ + cab to have a more Fendery vibe. Other than alnico, which is too pricey, which 4 ohm 10" would you recommend for the cab?

Thanks,
Joe

Oh man .... I can't wait to scream from the rooftop:

G10C (or AlNiCo if ya can swing it)!!!

Please, come back and post while you're still euphoric ... I LOVE those posts :-)

Thanks, Vaughn. I'm breaking in a 10" Veteran now and it's a big improvement, especially mic'd up for recording. What would be the most noticeable differences if I went with a G10C instead? (AlNiCo is priced out of reach.)

Way louder with more clean headroom ... WAAAAY more solid bottom-end ... a good bit less boxy midrange. Basically it'll just make the 7-watt Champ sound more like a 15-watt amp with a great 12" speaker.
I love the Vet 10's ... but generally only recommend them in pairs of two or more. By themselves they are ... to my ears ... a bit underwhelming.

Okay. I'll think about swapping for a G10C.
