I have a Marshall AVT275 2x12 combo amp, I'm looking for more headroom

and when I hit overdrive 1 I like a mild overdrive and when I hit overdrive 2 I want the lead scream

so do I get a set of the same speake or do I need to mix them up

Yea ... the two complaints with that amp are lack of headroom and that it gets muddy ... especially when pushed!

The speaker that should cure BOTH issues is the Retro 30!  Don't worry about power handleing, the Ret 30 can take 75 TRUE RMS TUBE watts ... your "75-watt" per channel SS Marshall is only equivalent to about 35-40 real RMS tube watts!  And, I wouldn't go with unmatched speakers ... since that is a STEREO amp!

The Retro 30 is nominated as 75W speaker, at least on the sticker on the back of the speaker, not 60W.
