Suppose you went the Reaper HP route for your rhythm tone and found it a bit too bitey or peaky: what would go in its place if you stayed with WGS? The Vet and the Ret are likely not viable options.

Hummm ... The Reaper is prety much NEVER considered too "bitey or peaky" ... except maybe in amps with huge 2-5K spike issues (Like some Marshall combos).
Here are the warmer speakers in order of warmer to warmest:

Reaper 55
G12C/S
I always thought the HP was less spikey than the regular Reaper
Humm ... maybe just a super TINY bit ... but not much!
