I am a 80's and 90's hair band/heavy metal disciple. I identify, or like/dis-like guitar tones based on what I loved about that time period. I still play music from that era and my equipment is the same. My rig is a Rivera M60 running through a Rivera 4x12 - all 90's vintage. See where I'm at? So I want to try different speakers. From the varied sound clips on the WGS website, it's kind of hard to nail something down. I keep coming back to the Invader 50. Admittedly, the Orange amp used probably adds a lot of what I like in those clips. Aside from that, any opinions on my selection? Or, a combination of two Invaders and ??? I guess I like the idea of a higher powdered Green Beret (or Greenback?). I am looking for a gravelly, aggressive and raw tone. Think of Skid Row's Quicksand Jesus solo (Slave to the Grind album). I love Scotti Hill's playing on this. How close am I?? Thanks to everyone...
Yea, actually, I think you are on-target ... the sounds you mention are straight-up GB tones ... and the Invader is true to that, but a lot more rugged ... so go for it!
