Hey Vaughn!
So I've been wondering what a British speaker mixed with an American speaker would sound like together. The reason for this is because I want to give my amp sound a little more character. I've been thinking the g12c/s would nail the American sound while taming the ear-shattering highs the Bandmaster has. In your opinion, what would be a good British speaker to pair that with? Maybe something to compensate for the lack of mids the g12c/s has? I am running a 212 closed back cab.
Yea, I'm a BIG fan of the Bandmasters ... best vintage Fender amp out there for the money today. I just sold one so now I'm down to only two :-)
Anyway ... man, I'm not 100% sure about the G12C/S ... if you do go with it, remember that it's VERY smokey/woody with LOTS of lower mids and a very subdued top end ... I would pair it with the Retro 30 if you go that route.
I currently have my vintage small-box bandmaster 2x12 cab loaded with a Reaper and a Reaper 55 ... and that's proven to be an excellent combo with my 1968 bandmaster.
I was thinking the Retro 30 would pair nicely with it too.
I definitely need to look into the reapers then!
What about the g12c with the retro 30? Maybe too much highs?
"What about the g12c with the retro 30? Maybe too much highs?"
Yea, I'd say so ... unless of course too-much is what you're looking for...
