Hey Vaughn!
I am looking for a speaker for my open 1x12 cabinet that will do Hendrix crunch and classic british sounds but also will sound good clean in the studio and live.
I searched the forum, bout found no real comparison of these two speakers.
What would you recommend? What are the differences ? Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
Well, they are VERY different!
Reaper: much more bottom & warm buttery midrange ... it's like an old Britt made G12H30.
Invader: more urgent midrange, not as much bottom/lows ... more like a vintage Britt Greenback.
Personally, between the two ... and for what you want ... well, just don't know ... but would lean a bit toward the Reaper, probably only go HP if you need more than 30-watt capability. Why? cuz it's usually hard to get enough bottom from a single 12 cab ... and you can almost always tame it with the bass control if needed.
Thanks a lot, Vaughn!
As always, great advice...
I have Reaper HP & Invader 2X12.
I'm not happy with mix. As Vaugn says they are very different.
At first, for some reason, I really disliked the Reaper HP. But now I've grown to love it over the Invader.
Reaper HP just does that gnarly kinda crunch, whereas Invader is sorta over the top in high end tone. Reaper HP is probably closer to ET-65, as the Invader is probably closer to Retro. the latter tends to have ear fatigue.
