So I have an isolation box that I built out of an old road case with a VHT 1x12 cabinet in it, stock speaker. I have a small mic stand in it with an SM57 so I can record late at night without disturbing the house. But the speaker is 16ohms and in order to use all of my amps, it needs to be 8 ohms. I need something that will sound good for all 3 amps. I know I won't get the best tone for any of them, but can I get a good tone for all 3 with one speaker?

The 3 amps are:

Marshall Haze 40 (used for typical Marshall dirty tones)

Music Man 110 RD 50 watts (used for amazing clean tones)

VHT 12/20RT 20 Watts ( used for different flavors, amazing with a strat)

A bit of a tough one ... because of the "iso box", which doesn't let a speaker breath at all ... which serves to REALLY dampen a speakers physical ability to move.  For this reason, I'd suggest as lightweight, quick & nimble speaker as possible ... and those are always low wattage.  So, I'd go BnB or GB if possible ... UNLESS you open up the Marshall and MM in that little box (which would probably sound pretty awful without any air to move) ... in which case I'd go Ret 30.

Thanks for the reply. The ISO box is actually quite large when compared to the cabinet inside it. There is probably 2 feet of space in front of it. But yes, it is sealed. The speaker inside the cab now doesn't sound bad at all, it's just not the right ohm load for the Music Man and a little overbuilt for my purposes. So, I think whatever speaker that would sound good outside would be good inside.

I don't really open either of the up that much. The case starts to rattle. Maybe about 3-4 on the dial.

I'll look into your suggestions.

Built my own iso cab, "borrowed" a Celestion G12T 100 out of my sons amp just to try it out and its doin the job quite nicely. He wants his speaker back! The box is small, 24x24x18, 6" behind the speaker, 18" in front. VHT 12/20, running it 12 watts. It sounds real good thru the PA, plenty bright. Playing at church, everything from hymns to indie to near metal. What would you recommend?
