Hello guys,

I own a Tubemeister amp (18watt, closed back combo) and I'm just looking for a speaker that is comparable to an Eminence The Wizard.

I really like the sound the Eminence Wizard gives me:

Deep and tight bass, very dominant mids and - as well as but - a lot of highs. They are giving a nice texture too the sound but in the end they are just a bit too harsh. I want to go with this punchy bass and massive mids, but to tame the highs a little bit.

I don't want to go with the Celestions, so I started looking for speakers and found several WGS speakers. At the moment I'm feeling to go on with the reaper 30 or retro 30 either. The bass of the retro 30 seems to be a little more tamed but tighter compared to the reaper 30. Mid-range of the retro 30 seems to sound more aggressive and way more articulated (I like :))

But I'm not really sure if the retro 30 wouldn't become to fizzy in an plexi-style amp?

So I'm starting this request for any helpful recommendation

Thanks & Regards,

Michael

Ya know ... I basically think your reasoning is dead-on ... so ...

Yea, the Reaper will make a great all-around 1x12 ... thick, juicy and complex.

The Ret 30 has a more tight, controlled bottom and a lot more top-end presence.

So ... choose your tone!  Me, I'd go with the Reaper ... I like fat-n-juicy!
