Newbie here...

Looking to change out the speakers of my JSX 2x12 combo. The stock Peavey speakers (8 Ohms each,Peavey JSX SP-8 speakers) are still in the amp. They sound ok, but the amp needs some help. Prior to this combo I swapped out the stock speakers of a 5150 combo amp (Celestions...GT12-75's) and did some other mods, loved the speakers compared to stock. Now, I am thinking of mixing speakers and am looking for which ones to pair. (My combo runs EL34's Tung Sol power tubes; amp rated power is 130 watts). Would like to hear a better, tighter low end/bottom... and better highs, more sparkle. I play classic and hard rock, i don't shy away from using overdrive/distortion... but when i play clean i use chorus/flange effects with reverb and delay. So far I have been checking out the ET-65 and the Veteran 30. Am I heading in the right direction?

Thanks,

Jason

Since you state:

"Would like to hear a better, tighter low end/bottom... and better highs, more sparkle"

I would suggest a pair of Retro 30's.  Make one an ET65 if you don't want quite as much sparkle.

Hope this helps ... post back w your results!
